So Monday marked the first day when my belly ‘just said no’ to my pants. Bill was driving me to work and I did not have time to change – I had to wear my winter jacket around all day because I could neither button nor zip up my pants. The belly bands are great but most certainly do not work with short sweaters!
There are only two stores in Charlottesville that sell maternity clothes. One is an ultra-trendy, super expensive botique and the other is Target (which has the BEST tank tops but the rest of the stuff is unforgiveable), so I have been ordering the majority of my clothes on-line. Gap Maternity seems to have decent clothing items at reasonable prices but of course I have to pay for shipping, wait for the clothes to arrive, and in many cases exchange the clothes for different sizes. Today I received several pairs of much needed pants and sweaters, all of which I will have to exchange! In the meantime I will have to make due with belly bands and over-sized sweaters. Let’s hope we don’t get any last-minute invitations for a formal get together this weekend!

Kristi! Do you have Kohls near you? They have a line called OhBaby and that is where I got most of my maternity Tops.
GOod Luck woith the clothes! (Soory Heidi is "Helping me type today.)
Many of my friends buy really nice looking clothes at Kohls. Kristy, I'm sure you can get a pair of jeans to wear around the house at Target and maybe a sweatshirt or two.
Maybe a trip to Richmond is in order this weekend.

We went to Richmond last weekend and Kristy found a couple of good items. Today Kristy and Todd found the same store we drove to Richmond for in our local Charlottesville Mall. So it turns out that there are Maternity clothes available in Charlottesville.
No Kohls near us unfortunately. I haven't had any luck with the jeans or other clothing items at Target. My Gap shipment should arrive next week and we will go to Richmond again this weekend or the following. In the meantime I think I'll be sticking to mail order, even though it's hit or miss.
Kristy, I think you should forget the mail order and make that trip to Richmond. You don't need to buy too much yet….I remember Pinata saying that she changed sizes as she got bigger. So maybe a few pairs of pants now…then a few pairs later. Get one (black?) dress that you can wear a long time. They advertized those bands for pants to wear with tops….end up looking like the two-toned tops that are popular now. Would work with shirts, but now I guess with loose sweaters.
I'm still laughing reading all this … sorry I cant help myself 🙂 actually TJ maxx has prego clothes .
and so does SEARS (gasp) good luck . I do remember crying when I had my first baby and I got very Rubenesque (sp?) now I just go with it.
Hey! Thanks for your comment on my blog. 🙂 You're too sweet. You're looking great, too! What's the date you find out the sex? I absolutely hated maternity clothes shopping as well… which is why I pretty much borrowed all my clothes from my friend! haha. I did buy some pants form Target, Motherhood Maternity, Old Navy and Gap. Sometimes I just buy tops in bigger sizes form places like Old Navy, just make sure they're long so they cover up your unbuttoned pants or your belly as it grows! I did the unbuttoned pants for a while. Maternity pants are the absolutely worst part of maternity clothes shopping. 🙁
