Easter 2011

Easter didn’t go quite as planned this year while we were still waiting for the baby to arrive (9 days late) and Lilly was recovering from a bad stomach bug.  Yesterday she slept until almost 11:30am (after waking up at 6:30 with a fever and falling back asleep) and was extremely lethargic all day.  Lilly threw up on a few occasions and had diarrhea and slept the majority of the day (even slept in the stroller while Bill and I went for a 2.5 hour walk)…very unusual for her.  She was definitely feeling better this morning so Nana and Boppa came over with her Easter basket and she received plenty of gifts from the Easter bunny!  Today also happens to be Great Grandpa Bill’s 86th Birthday.  There was a party last night at St. Anne’s but we were unable to go because Lilly wasn’t well.  No complaints here but I can tell you that next Easter will be a lot different!

3 Weeks in AZ

We just returned from our 3+ week stay in Arizona with my parents.  It was wonderful to see aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. and then have some time alone with Grandma and Grandpa.  We went for golf cart rides every day (Lilly LOVES the golf cart) and I was able to run every day as well.  Lilly was especially sweet with my mom and called my parents ‘MOM’ and ‘DADA’ or ‘BA’ (she says it differently than she does for me or Bill).    The weather was colder than usual but I was completely happy with mid-sixties and sunny every day!  It was a wonderful time and we are looking forward to heading back there soon!

Christmas Day

Christmas Day

We have been enjoying the holidays in Arizona since Lilly and I arrived on the 22nd.  I was a bit nervous about flying solo with her this time but she did great!  If there is such a thing as over-packing with an infant/toddler than I did it.  The rest of the family, including Bill, arrived shortly after we did so that we were all together on Christmas Day.  We had a delicious Christmas Eve dinner at mom and dad’s house followed by our traditional Christmas morning rituals, where we all promised to ‘cut back’ on gifts but as usual there was a big amount for everyone – especially the kids!  The Christmas forecast was 75 and sunny so we spent lots of time outside with the kids playing pickle ball.  It was a wonderful holiday and we look forward to the remaining time we have in Arizona.

Christmas Anticipation

Thanksgiving!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Nana and Bapa!  We spent the day at home cooking and playing with Lilly and watched for Bapa Bill, who was part of the Distinguished Clown Corps in the Thanksgiving Day Parade.  When Lilly woke up from her nap we went to Judy and Bill’s for dinner.  We ate wild mushroom shephard’s pie, roasted vegetables, and the traditional fixings with homemade pumpkin pie for dessert, of course.  It was a wonderful day!

Grandma’s Visit

Grandma has the magic touch when taking care of a sick Lilly

We just wrapped up a one week visit with Grandma!  It was so much fun having her here.  We went shopping, ate a lot of good meals, spent time with family and friends, and watchced some good tv – the usual mother/daughter stuff.  She spent a lot of time bonding with Lilly, who said her version of ‘grandma’ (gah-ma) accouple times but mostly called her ‘dada’.  Lilly can’t wait to spend a lot more time with her next month!

Halloween

Happy Halloween!  We celebrated all weekend long with homemade cut-out cookies, a family brunch, and trick-or-treating.  Lilly LOVED her costume and even tasted chocolate for the first time (bad idea).  She made a super cute bumble bee even though she was a bit apprehensive of going door to door asking for candy (we went to 2 houses).  Looking forward to next year when we hope she will enjoy it even more!

Tevin's first trip to a nail salon

I just returned from a whirlwind weekend in San Diego!  Bill stayed home with Lilly (with a little coverage from Nana Judy due to B’s flight schedule) so that I was able to visit Mark, Pinata, Leela (32 months), and Tevin (4.5 months) for a long weekend.  This was my first time meeting my nephew Tevin and he is a CUTIE PIE!  I like to refer to him as Cheeky McCheekster because he is one well-fed baby boy!  Leela has grown up so much since I last saw her.  She loves all things ‘girl’ and will only wear dresses or pink tutu’s.  We can’t wait to spend more time with the whole family in Phoenix at Christmas!

Detroit Marathon!

At the finish line!

Congratulations to Bill, who completed his second marathon today!  He finished the Detroit Free Press Marathon in 3 hours and 43 minutes (8:32 mile), shaving 11 minutes off of last years time (even better than his goal time and with negative splits)!!  Grandpa Bill and I saw him at the start, mile 9, 13, 17, 25.5, and the finish.  I have to say he looked cool and relaxed at every point in the race, perhaps with the exception of the very end.  Bill and I went downtown yesterday to spend time together before the big event.  We stayed at the Westin Book Cadillac hotel while Grandma Judy watched Lilly.  It was a great event and I am SO proud of Bill!  More marathon’s to come, I’m sure…

Sending daddy off for his 20 mile run

We just got back from a fun-filled long weekend at Nipigon with Nana and Bapa.  It was a bit cold and rainy but fine with us because we were able to relax indoors, nap, and play board games.  I rode a bicycle alongside Bill while he was completing his 20-mile run on Saturday and we spent a nice afternoon on the Island Sunday.  Lilly had a great time playing with Rocket and running around the cottage.  We look forward to more visits next Summer!
