Everyone loves a good laugh – especially a belly laugh from Lilly! Check out this video of Kristy and Lilly doing ‘the itsy bitsy spider’.
This weekend we decided to stay home and enjoy the great outdoors with Lilly. We had dinner with our friends Reena & Matt and Tracey & Aaron Saturday night in downtown Birmingham and took Lilly to the zoo with Billy on Sunday. Monday we went to Aunt Terry’s beach and had a picnic by the water. It was such a fun weekend!
The past couple of weeks Lilly has enjoyed feeding us – especially the cat! She also holds out a toy to share (wonder how long that will last 🙂 ). Check out the videos below:
Yesterday we ran Detroit’s Race for the Cure with Lilly in tow. We’ve walked the 5K several times but this is the first time that we ran with Lilly. I knocked 6 minutes off of my previous 5K (Turkey Trot in November) – Bill and Lilly did a great job setting the pace and Lilly flapped, kicked, and squealed her way through the entire race. She loved it! We plan to run this every year as a family. So fun!
The other day I put Lilly down at the bottom of the steps for a second while I was picking something up, and I was shocked to watch her climb the steps one by one without any fear. Not really sure how she learned this, but she sure is fast!
I have heard that once you have kids you never sleep the same again. Well, so far this is true for me. Lilly has slept 11+ hours through the night since she was 6 months old (knocking on wood here), but I haven’t. Some nights I wake up at 4:30/5 am and can’t fall back asleep, other nights I wake up in the middle of the night and it takes me awhile to fall back asleep – a frustrating thing to happen considering she sleeps so well! I am getting enough sleep and feel rested – just look forward to uninterrupted nights of 8+ hours of sleep somewhere in the future!
Lilly is refusing the spoon 99% of the time now and has moved on to finger foods. She has gotten quite good at feeding and entertaining herself. Mealtime consists of me cutting and steaming vegetables and mixing grains and nuts. No more time spent pureeing food but the prep and the cleanup are sure time consuming!
Today we celebrated Kristy’s first Mother’s Day. We had a brunch for all of the Gray mom’s in the morning and spent some fun family time in downtown Birmingham in the afternoon. Lilly was extra super-cute for mom today. 🙂
