When we first started doing tummy time with Lilly (1 month), we were surprised how long she would go for without fussing. She has gotten MUCH better at tummy time and can now hold her head up to a 90 degree angle. The past two weeks for some reason she has gotten much more fussy when on her stomach and cries after about two minutes. She still loves being on her back and looking up at her toys, though. She bats at them and talks to them now and is content for long periods of time. We will keep working on getting her back on her tummy!!!

Faye, do you remember that our kids all Slept on their tummys and we measured rolling over onto their backs as a benchmark? I understand that sleeping on the back has really reduced the incidence of SIDS
Billy learned a belly flopping manuver to move forward before he learned to crawl. Boy was our cat suprised when Bill could "all of a sudden" reach him on the bed. After Billy removed a baby sized handful of hair, the cat didn't let Billy get close again.
Keep up the "tummy time" so Lilly develops the crawling muscles. Crawling is good for excercising the left brain/right brain switching back and fourth used in learning to read.
