So this afternoon Grandpa made a mistake: he put Lilly in a swim diaper instead of a regular diaper. Well, swim diapers don’t actually hold any liquid so Lilly’s pants quickly became wet (to say the least). When we got home from a ride in the golf cart I realized this just as Lilly was squatting in the living room saying, ‘pee pee’. This was odd behavior for her so I asked if she wanted to go to the potty. She started to say, ‘potty potty’, and ran to the bathroom. My mom and I put her on the potty and…she peed! A minute later we took her off, she asked to pee again, we put her on the potty and…she peed again! It hasn’t happened since (probably had something to do with the swim diaper?) but she is definitely more interested in the potty now. Planning to buy her a ‘play potty’ this weekend! I’m sure there will be lots of updates on this one…
Let it be said that I was NOT prepared for this and have done nothing to encourage Lilly to use the potty aside from acknowledge her when she said ‘poop’ or ‘pee’. Wasn’t planning on facing the potty training thing until after the baby arrived until now.

Be prepared for her to completely lose interest! Dakota did the same thing for me at this age. She showed interest and asked to pee in the potty (Dakota even tried to poop in the potty a couple of times, but would get too scared and end up asking for her diaper) and then she lost interest. I think that's common, but we're not pushing it. I also heard its a pain dealing with a potty training toddler and a newborn. Imagine trying to nurse a newborn or change a newborn's diaper and then having a toddler desperately telling you she has to go potty Right Now and you having to figure out how to rush your toddler to the bathroom while dealing with a needy newborn!! Ugh, I'm holding off on the potty training as long as I can!!
