Today Bill and I went in for our 22-week ultrasound and got the news we have been waiting for: We’re having a baby girl! We were both overjoyed and spent about 40 minutes with the ultrasound technician and doctor checking her out from head-to-toe on the 3D ultrasound. We saw the hippocampus, blood pumping through the four ventricles of the heart, the femur bone and everything in between. We even have a video of the whole thing! Our little girl was upside down and breech – she was all folded up and practically kicking herself in the face with her feet when we first saw her (we are already calling her Yoga Baby)!
Within the first few minutes of the ultrasound the technician told us we were looking at the legs and bottom of our baby. She then pointed to something that seemed to be sticking out from between the legs, asked us if we wanted to know the gender (yes!), and said calmly, “do you know what that is?” Bill and I both immediately thought penis and were surprised when she told us we were staring at the labia!

I don't know why, but I too just had a feeling you were having a girl. This is so exciting …..and we are so glad that you've found out she is developing just right. These ultra sounds are really something these days. Baby Gray and Leela will be really good friends!
Grandma and Grandpa Sessoms
"Pink or Blue, I Love You True" – and this time, we are in love with PINK!! Wee baby girl – WOW are you ever a lucky girl to come to these parents and family! We will all adore you, and dance at your wedding. (Bill, start saving, and Kristy start planning).
Eddie came up with the name 🙂 are you ready?…
Dulce Irene Gray …
That way he says with her initials you can call her DIGGER …
He and Kaly both LOVE that 🙂
I keep picturing the 3 of you together … I'm so excited to be a GREAT Aunt to a little girl.
Ha! Funny but I don't think that "Digger" is a great nickname for a little girl.
I'm thinking something with Anne in it because there are so many people with Ann(e) in their name. Maybe Kristin for a first name – named after Kristina. Humm, Kristin Anne Gray – has a nice ring to it. Or maybe after the great grandmothers. Katherine Anne Gray for grandmother Peggy and grandmother Anne. I like that too – Martha and I have Ann as our middle names (mine before I was married and kept Price)
And of course there is Mary Faye Gray! 🙂
Oh the possibilities are endless. I'm getting carried away – I better go back and look at the family name lists.
Hahaha – sorry ladies but none of you are even close. No need to speculate, you will find out the actual name in a few months!
Something that didn't make the blog but is definitely worth noting:
Bill & I had to wait an hour for the doctor. He came in and apologized for the wait – said that he had just handled a quite dramatic episode. Apparently the mom of a 15-year-old called the office in a panic this morning because she noticed that her daughter's belly had been expanding. Ends up the daughter is 35 weeks pregnant and NEITHER of them had any idea! The 15-year-old was in complete denial!
We asked the doctor how often this happens and he told us he gets called to the ER for women with 'severe abdominal pain' who are actually in labor (and don't know it) all the time. He also said that he had a similar case with a 12-year-old a few weeks back. Wow…
Oh, but speculating is sooooo much fun!
Yikes!!! Having BEEN 35 weeks pregnant, I am amazed by that. But, you know we were in the urgent care hospital one time for something and a lady came in with abdominal pain… And ended up having a baby. So, I guess it happens…. Still…. I would think you would NOTICE something jumping up and down on your bladder and using your kidneys as punching bags….. CRAZY!
