I gained 4 ounces this week, weigh just over a pound, and am about as long as an ear of corn (el maiz)! My brain is growing quickly and tast buds are continuing to develop. My lungs are also getting stronger – they are developing “branches” and a substance that will help my air sacs to inflate once I hit the outside world. I still have lots of fat to put on!
Kicks are getting stronger and more frequent, and mom is starting to get lots of awkward ‘belly pats’ from students and friends.

I always thought it "strange" that people thought it was OK to pat your belly without being invited just because you are pregnant. It seems that they just can't help themselves.
Dad and I can't wait for our turn to feel those kicks!
Love, Mom
surfactant is the substance that allows the lungs inflate
When I got belly-accosted, I used to reach over and rub the perpetrator's belly while they were rubbing mine. Most of the time they didn't re-rub the belly! I think they don't realize how much it invades your personal space until someone does it to them.
I really don't remember being patted like that, but it really is rude and invasive.
If only they didn't have laws against Kristy rubbing her student's bellies. Funny that the teacher/student laws only work in one direction. 🙂
