Robin’s First Day of Preschool

Monday was Robin’s first day of preschool! It was a difficult decision to start her now because I selfishly wanted to keep her home with me, but Bill and I recognized that she was ready to start school and it is what is best for her now. I cried into her peanut butter and jelly sandwich that morning but seeing just how excited she and Lilly were to go to school together put a huge smile on my face. Having them so close in age has really brought them together. We were hoping that she would go 2 or 3 days a week but after talking with the directors of her preschool we decided to put her in 4 half days (9-12:30) with Lilly. We love the preschool and could not be any happier about the environment she is in. Her first day was a huge success, she was excited all morning long running around with her lunch box saying she was ready to go. The only time she was upset all day was when I told her it was time to go home. My baby is growing up so quickly, and what a beautiful, funny, enthusiastic girl she is!

New Years Eve 2013

We celebrated New Year’s Eve with our neighbors and friends Karli and Kaj and their kids. During the day we went to the Denver Children’s Museum for their ‘Noon Year’s Eve’ kids festivities, which included an hourly countdown to the ball drop, train rides, and 10 miles of bubble wrap for the kids to stomp on. During the evening we celebrated with sushi and champagne, and a movie and pinata for the kids. So much fun!! Happy New Year!!

Christmas 2013!

Santa Claus came to town…and he brought with him 11 of our family members! We were so happy to host Christmas at our home this year and have so many people join us for the week long celebration. It took lots of time and planning but the work paid off and we could not have imagined a better week, which included sledding, ice skating, skiing, mountain biking, tea with Santa, hiking, go carting, lights festivals, shopping, Xmas Eve dinner at Pasta Jay’s, cookie and gingerbread house decorating, bar hopping, late nights, and lots of local flare. Thanks to all those who came out to celebrate the holidays with us!!

Welcome, Nora Florence Sessoms!

Yesterday we welcomed the birth of our niece Nora Florence Sessoms! She was born at 7pm on December 7th in Shanghai. We are so delighted to have a new girl in the family and another cousin for the girls. We talked with Todd and Jessica last night and saw Nora for the first time – Robin was on the phone with us and was so excited it see her. When we got off Robin was VERY upset and insisted “That’s MY baby!” and wanted to sing to her goodnight. So sweet! Welcome, beautiful Nora, we can’t wait to see you in just a few weeks!

Roary Cat Cat

Our dear “Roary Cat Cat” passed away this morning. It was entirely unexpected, she had her regular vet appointment a few months ago and seemed perfectly healthy but I found her this morning curled up like she was sleeping in one of her favorite spots under the kids Christmas tree downstairs. Yesterday she was curled up on Lilly’s bed and when Lilly bumped her off the bench at dinner she ran over to tell Roary that she was sorry for bumping her. Last night when Bill and I were going to bed I said “Good night, Roary cat-cat, you’re a good cat-cat” like I do every night, and I remember thinking of her before I went to sleep because it was so cold outside and she usually sleeps in our bed.

Roary, you were loved dearly and were the happiest after we had our girls. You would let them play doctor with you and climb on you and you loved (just about) every minute of it. Thank you for being such a wonderful cat, you will be missed!

The morning after we told the girls they turned the Christmas tree into a rocketship to fly up to Cat Heaven and visit Roary. So sweet. They both keep repeating, “I really really really really really really really really really really really really really…miss Roary”. <3

Christmas Preparations

We are having so much fun getting ready for Christmas with the girls. The day after Thanksgiving we spent decorating the house and the tree. The girls had fun putting ornaments on the tree and Roary had fun getting into the boxes :). We have been reading stories, making snowflakes and ornaments, getting e-mails from Santa Claus, looking for Ciders (our xmas elf) in new places every morning, and counting down the days to Christmas with our advent calendar. It is wonderful to see the look in their eyes, like everything is magic. We are really looking forward to celebrating with our 16 family members in Boulder this year.

Happy Holidays!

Thanksgiving 2013

This year we celebrated Thanksgiving at our house with just the 4 of us for the first time ever. We had a lovely day that started with pumpkin chocolate chip pancakes and the parade, followed by a ‘turkey hunt’ hike with our friends Tanja and Lyra. Pumpkin grilled cheeses for lunch and homemade pumpkin bread for a snack. It was a gorgeous day so Lilly got some bike practice in before we headed home to finish making our Thanksgiving Day feast. This has been an incredible year and we have so much to be thankful for!

8 Year Anniversary

Happy 8 Year Anniversary to my #1 Love! We spent the evening in the best way possible, dinner and looking through our wedding album with the girls, good beer from the corner brewery, and Love Actually.

Picture Perfect

Love this photo from our short hike with Nana and Boppa on a picture perfect Colorado day!

Ski School

L has had an incredibly busy Fall with school, her sports class, private swim lessons, and now ski school at Shredder. She has really been enjoying ski school and surprising us with how well she is doing. They go over basic fundamentals and technique, and she is already doing turns down the big hill with the older kids. That’s my girl!
