Lilly has been counting to 3 or 4 (and to 10 with some prompting) for awhile but this week surprised us when she regularly began counting to 6 on her own.  She seems to really grasp numbers 1-4 and will tell you that she is wearing 2 socks or there are 3 slices of pear, etc.

At the same time she is experimenting with letters and the alphabet song.  If you rattle off a few letters she’ll start her own version of the alphabet (usually ACDC 🙂 ).  We aren’t actively teaching any of this to her so I’m not sure if she’s picking it up from home or school.  Elmo might have provided some help as well, because this is her favorite video to watch on YouTube:

Update:  One week later and she is counting to 10.
