Bill and I ran the BolderBOULDER 10k race together on Memorial Day. Our babysitter, Jodi, came over early to watch the girls and in order to avoid potential traffic we rode our bikes to the start line (and back – sadly I think 10 miles might be the furthest I’ve ever rode a bicycle in a single day up to this point). The race was the most fun I’ve had in a community run – 30 bands lined the course along with all sorts of crazy spectators. We finished in CU stadium, where we completed a lap on the field before crossing the finish line. Our overall time was 1 hour 2 minutes (10:06 pace) which I am happy with because it means that even with the altitude and giant hills around here, with much work I am getting faster! The run wasn’t much of a stretch for Bill, who recently started training for the Boulder Tri-Series with 6 workouts a week. Supposedly we set a record for biggest road race at 60,000 participants.

We were thrilled to meet Kara Goucher (and see Shalane Flanagan) after the race, CU graduate who will be representing our country in the London Olympics this Summer. USA!

Fortunately both girls took a long afternoon nap on Monday so we did as well. In the afternoon we went to the park and made black bean burgers for dinner, followed by a growler of Mountain Sun beer and some Ben & Jerry’s, yum!
