Easter didn’t go quite as planned this year while we were still waiting for the baby to arrive (9 days late) and Lilly was recovering from a bad stomach bug. Yesterday she slept until almost 11:30am (after waking up at 6:30 with a fever and falling back asleep) and was extremely lethargic all day. Lilly threw up on a few occasions and had diarrhea and slept the majority of the day (even slept in the stroller while Bill and I went for a 2.5 hour walk)…very unusual for her. She was definitely feeling better this morning so Nana and Boppa came over with her Easter basket and she received plenty of gifts from the Easter bunny! Today also happens to be Great Grandpa Bill’s 86th Birthday. There was a party last night at St. Anne’s but we were unable to go because Lilly wasn’t well. No complaints here but I can tell you that next Easter will be a lot different!
We have been enjoying the holidays in Arizona since Lilly and I arrived on the 22nd. I was a bit nervous about flying solo with her this time but she did great! If there is such a thing as over-packing with an infant/toddler than I did it. The rest of the family, including Bill, arrived shortly after we did so that we were all together on Christmas Day. We had a delicious Christmas Eve dinner at mom and dad’s house followed by our traditional Christmas morning rituals, where we all promised to ‘cut back’ on gifts but as usual there was a big amount for everyone – especially the kids! The Christmas forecast was 75 and sunny so we spent lots of time outside with the kids playing pickle ball. It was a wonderful holiday and we look forward to the remaining time we have in Arizona.

This video was shot on our way to Nana and Bapa’s for Christmas morning.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Nana and Bapa! We spent the day at home cooking and playing with Lilly and watched for Bapa Bill, who was part of the Distinguished Clown Corps in the Thanksgiving Day Parade. When Lilly woke up from her nap we went to Judy and Bill’s for dinner. We ate wild mushroom shephard’s pie, roasted vegetables, and the traditional fixings with homemade pumpkin pie for dessert, of course. It was a wonderful day!

Happy Halloween! We celebrated all weekend long with homemade cut-out cookies, a family brunch, and trick-or-treating. Lilly LOVED her costume and even tasted chocolate for the first time (bad idea). She made a super cute bumble bee even though she was a bit apprehensive of going door to door asking for candy (we went to 2 houses). Looking forward to next year when we hope she will enjoy it even more!

We just got back from a great, long weekend up North. Bill and I drove up Friday morning with Lilly and were excited to have her back at Nipigon. This visit was full of family firsts: Lilly started ‘walking’ across the room when her hands were held, she spent an entire hour floating in Lake Huron with Nana and Boppa, went on her first boat ride, and ate her first ice cream cone! It was a beautiful, HOT weekend so we spent most of our time outdoors – much of it next to a shaded kiddie pool. We can’t wait to get back there!

We celebrated a particularly wonderful Father’s Day this past weekend. We spent most of our time outdoors enjoying the sunshine with Lilly. Saturday we went downtown for the River Days Festival. Sunday we ran the Run for the Ribbon 5K at the zoo (see below), went to our Goldfish swim class, had some fun in the sandbox, and grilled outside. Another busy weekend in the Gray household – so much fun!

This weekend we decided to stay home and enjoy the great outdoors with Lilly. We had dinner with our friends Reena & Matt and Tracey & Aaron Saturday night in downtown Birmingham and took Lilly to the zoo with Billy on Sunday. Monday we went to Aunt Terry’s beach and had a picnic by the water. It was such a fun weekend!
Today we celebrated Kristy’s first Mother’s Day. We had a brunch for all of the Gray mom’s in the morning and spent some fun family time in downtown Birmingham in the afternoon. Lilly was extra super-cute for mom today. 🙂

Lilly’s first Easter was very busy. We celebrated a week early with Grandma and Grandpa Gray because they went to Florida for spring break. Doesn’t Lilly look cute in her bunny ears (see picture below)? My parents, brothers, and cousin were in town for my grandmother’s funeral. We had a special dinner in honor of grandma at Oakland Hills and a family brunch Easter morning at the Hunt Club. With so many people in town Lilly got to ‘eat out’ on several occasions – Bill and I can’t believe how good she is every time we go out! We hope this keeps up!
